Whether it’s an action movie or a football match, chances are that your flat screen TV will have to handle fast moving objects and action (response time)
A screen’s response time is a measure of how fast its pixels can complete one full ‘cycle’. Screens with long response times will have problems refreshing every element in their pictures quick enough to keep up with fast motion, resulting in moving objects looking blurred or ‘ghosting’.
35% indicate that Plasma has the best Response Time
With LCD, completing a pixel cycle requires it to go from active (black) to inactive (white) and back again. The time taken for this process varies, but tends to fall somewhere between 25 milliseconds and 4 milliseconds. Even the fastest LCD screens can struggle to show really fast motion clearly.
Since each pixel is completely self-contained, plasmas can refresh themselves virtually instantaneously. Plasma pixels react so fast that the term ‘response time’ is practically irrelevant, as even the fastest movement looks crisp and clear.
